Hector and Meredith Hector

We are a small hobby kennel located in Southeast Florida. We currently breed and show Shetland Sheepdogs, Collies and Flat-Coated Retrievers.
Hector has been breeding and exhibiting dogs since 1980. He started in Collies and Labradors then transitioned to Shelties. He established Enclave in 1985.

Meredith is a second-generation dog person who has had Shelties her entire life. She began regularly showing in conformation and junior showmanship when she was eight years old. As a teenager and young adult, she handled several dogs with her mother (Julie Desy – Ilemist) and for clients, helping to successfully campaign many dogs to their championships.

We met at a dog show here in Florida over 20 years ago and have been married for 15 years. We are both AKC licensed judges in several breeds – Collies, Pointers, the retrieving breeds and Shetland Sheepdogs. We have both had the honor of judging the Sheltie National – Hector in 2018 and Meredith judged in 2019.
We are active in several all-breed and specialty dog clubs including: Palm Beach County Dog Fanciers Association, American Shetland Sheepdog Association, Shetland Sheepdog Club of Southeast Florida, Collie Club of America, Flat-Coated Retriever Society of America, Morris and Essex Kennel Club, Canadian Shetland
Sheepdog Association and the Mid-Florida Sporting Dog Association.
Professionally, Hector is a clinical neurology territory manager for the Mayo Clinic and Meredith is the human resources director for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
