Enclave Shelties was started in 1988 by Hector as a small hobby kennel originally in Miami, FL and now in Davie, FL. The name Enclave was chosen to honor his Cuban heritage and upbringing in that close knit, protective community in South Florida. We are preservation breeders and AKC Breeders of Merit.
Hector's love of dogs began with Collies. He has raised them as well as breeding Labrador Retrievers prior to discovering Shelties.
Meredith (formerly Maust, now Hector) has always had Shelties. Her mother, the late Julie Desy, established Ilemist in the 1960’s. Meredith showed in juniors and handled dogs with her mother for many years.

Welcome to Enclave
Enclave remains a small hobby kennel. We keep a small group of companions and show dogs. To maintain our low numbers and high quality, we have successfully partnered with other breeders over the years and are grateful for the friendships and collaborations. We are currently partnered with Mary Lee Shingle of Pleasant Acre Collies.
Outside of the dog world Hector is employed as a clinical sales specialist in neurology for Mayo Clinic and Meredith is the Director of Talent at the Miami Foundation.
