Enclave shelties was started in 1988 by Hector Hector. It is a small hobby kennel located in Davie, FL. Hector's love of dogs began with collies and he has raised them as well as breeding Labrador Retrievers prior to discovering shelties. He has owned a number of breed champions and recently bred his first champion, Ch. Enclave Legend's Night Echoes - see dogs shared page. Most of his dogs have come from friend and mentor Carol Howell's Jade Mist lines. Her incomparable sire
Ch. Jade Mist Beyond Tradition, ROM, ROMC is behind all the Enclave shelties.

Meredith (formerly Maust, now Hector) has always had shelties. Her mother, Julie Desy, founded Ilemist in the 1960's and breeds and handles under that prefix to this day. She handles occasionally, and has successfully campaigned many client dogs to their championships. She is an active member of the ASSA having served on the board and currently serving as Chair of the Junior Showmanship Committee. In 2004 she had the honor of judging Futurity at the ASSA National Specialty in Ogden, Utah.
We were married November 20, 2004. Together, we strive to breed and retain shelties of exceptional breed type and expression and therefore produce only one or two select breedings each year. Our dogs are our family members, not kennel dogs. Show prospects and companions alike are guaranteed for temperament and against genetic defects. We both are strong believers in breed education and aspire to learn all we can through the experiences and knowledge of the breeders who have had a positive and lasting impact on the breed |
